WOMEN’S DIVISION

NGAROMA BRANCH. The Ngaroma branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held its fourth birthday party at the residence of Mr T. Barker, Ngaroma, on 10th instant. In spite of the inclement weather a very successful function resulted, and was thoroughly enjoyed. The president (Mrs M. S. Gould) had the pleasure of welcoming Mrs H. Wilson, of Pio Pio, the Dominion president, and visitors from Korakonui, Te Awamutu, and Otorohanga. Mrs Wilson, who had cut the birthday cake, was presented with a basket of ferns by Mrs L. G. McDonald on behalf of the local branch. In reply, Mrs Wilson spoke on matters of W.D.F.U. interest commenting on the rapid growth of organised service to farming districts through the Division and of the general appreciation of the service. Mrs F. J. B. Ryburn, of Paterangi, president of S.A.P.U., also spoke, giving details of the Dominion conference held in Wellington. Mrs M. S. Gould replied, thanking the visitors for making the journey under such unfavourable weather conditions, especially Mrs Wilson, whose services to the Division must leave so little time for visiting the small branches, and the Ngaroma branch was appreciative of the compliment that had been paid to it.
