TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports as follows on the firm’s stock sale at Te Awamutu on Thursday:— Fat and store cattle: As customary the yards were filled to capacity, and heavy fat cows and heifers and a number of pens of medium and heavy bullocks accounted for a good proportion of the entry. The light fat, store, and boner pens were full, and the advertised yearling heifers and a number of store steers came forward. Beef cattle of all classes were eagerly sought from a large bench of buyers, and competition was consistently keen, with the best of other centres’ quotations being maintained throughout. Three trucks of heavy Polled Angus and Shorthorn bullocks on account of Tokanui Mental Hospital sold from £l2 5 S to £l3 2s; Messrs C. S. Burgess, Waimiha, Mr W. J. Haines, Te Kuiti, and Mr J. Middlebrook, Te Awamutu, being the principal buyers. Medium-weight bullocks on account of Mr J. R. Kay, Korakonui, realised to £ll 10s; Mr J R. Messrs Kirkham Bros., Te Mawhai, sold a draft of choice Shorthorn cows to £ll ss, and Mr H. Maxwell, Otorohanga, secured a number of these. Mr R. A. Bell obtained £ll for the best of his Shorthorn cows, and M.r H. Mandeno was paid to £lO 5s for a draft of goc-d Shorthorn cows. Store and boner cows met with a particularly strong demand, and yearling heifers were accorded a brisk reception.
