BOYCE CUP CHALLENGE. WAIPA 6 v. MATAMATA 3. Experience told in the Boyce Cup challenge match at Matamata on Saturday last, and Waipa, the challengers, succeeded in winning the Boyce Cup for the third time since it was pc®sented. The “Record” says the game was by no means an inspiring one, and if the score was perhaps slightly against the run of play from a territorial point of view, Waipa deserved their win, because on the whole they showed far more knowledge of the fine points of Rugby and used the wtind ‘to far greater advantage than the home team. The game was largely a battle of tactics, in which Waipa was superior, with the home team, with few exceptions, playing a curiously listless game. Hawke, Ryan, Roberts, Scott, Craig, Cannell and Foggo were the only hetne players to -each their best form. The team lined out as follows: — Waipa.—Dalziol, Ormsby, Ward. Kingi, Morgan, Diack, Bell. Wynyard, La.wiy, McColl, Emery, Martinvich, Hughes, Newman, West. Matamata.—McLean, Hawke. Wilson, Ryan, Roberts, Scott, Walsh, Aoake, Craig, Scott, Harris, Cannell, I ue-ton, Foggo, McMillan. Mr W. L. Hollis was referee. REFEREES FOR SATURDAY. The following referees have been appointed for next Saturday’s games at Albert Park:—Seniors: Rovers v. Te Awamutu, Mr H. Taylor; juniors, Waikeria A v.
