AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST ON 29th AUGUST, 1911. The annual general meeting of Te Awamutu Tennis Club was held in the Library, Dr A. Henderson presiding. Officers for the ensuing*year were elected as follows: President, Mr W1 N. O. von Sturmer; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs R. S. Galbraith and F. D. Wood and Dr A. Henderson; secretary, M’r E. A. Cox; treasurer, Mr R. G. Blennerhassett; committee, Messrs S. A. Empson, R. G. Blennerhassett, J. McGovern, and A. C. Cruickshank, and Dr J. S. Reekie. Subscriptions were fixed at £1 Is for gentlemen and 10s 6d for ladies. The hockey contest for the caps will commence on Saturday, and the following teams have been selected: Normans: Phillips, Reekie, Kay, Smedley, Wood, Cox, Moeller, Verner, Robinson, Dill, and Walsh. Saxons: Ansell, Douglas, Davis (2), Archibald, Taylor, Dwen, Fear, Anderson, Allright, Petrey. Mr S. A. Empson will referee. The secretary ofgthe Chamber of Commerce (Mr A. G. - Wiarburton) wires from' Wellington as follows: “ Had interview with Secretary, General Post Office, this morning. He informs me Timaru post office clock is for sale for £250. It has four dials, each 6 feet, with hour bell. The clock is in good order and guaranteed for another 100 years. The Secrtary, G.P.0., thinks very good for Te Awamutu requirements. The amount required to be subscribed by Te Awamutu £2OO, and the balance on clock and tower will be borne by Government.”
