GENE STRONG CUP CONTEST. Te Awamutu Badminton Club lady members competed on Monday evening for the handicap singles championship, which carries as a trophy the Gene Strong Cup. Miss E. Melville eventually won from Miss D. Pearte by 21 points, to 17. Details are:— Miss E. Christie, owe 3, beat Miss N. Russell, rec. 3,21 —14; Miss D. Pearte, rec. 10, beat Miss E. Clarke, rec. 3, 21—12; Miss E. Melville, owe 10, beat Miss E. Christie 21—12; Miss E. Melville beat Miss D. Pearte 21— 17. Miss Melville has won the trophy for the second year in succession.
