FINAL OF JENSEN CUP. TOKOROA BEAT AROHENA, The final of the Jensen Cup knockout competition was played at Glenshea Park, Putaruru, last Saturday aftenoon, when Tokoroa played Arohena. After lan even contest tne former won by six points to three. In the first half Tokoroa, with the sun and wind in its favour, did most of the attacking. Arohena was good in flashes when individuals showed up well, but the necessary team work was lacking. The Tokoroa forwards player vigorously and brought play to their opponents’ line. Inman and Gallagher scored unconverted tries and at half-time the score was six to nil in Tokoroa favour. After the change-over the Maoris, using the wind Which was now in their favour, attacked strenuously. Their backs combined much better and they showed flashes of the play that had given them victory over Arapuui. Their forwards kept breaking through but Leng, the Tokoroa fullback, saved often.
The Arohena half initiated a back movement and the ball went out to the wing, Nathan, who scored an unconverted try. .Arohena. became more dangerous and pressed strongly to the Tokoroa tw;enty-five and seemed about to score on several occasions. Just before the end the Tokoroa players weire offside and on the second occasion Arohena had an excellent ornortunity of evening the scores when they were given a free kick, but the ball just sailed below the bar and Tokoroa won 6 to 3. REFEREES FOR SATURDAY. The following referees have been appointed for next Saturday’s games locally: —Seniors: Rovers v. Old Boys. Mr R. L. Adams. Juniors: To Awamutu v. Waikeria A, Mi’ H. Taylor; Ngutunui v. Waikeria B, Mr E. Maddern; Old Boys v. Tokanui, Mr T. Brown. Thirds (Cucksey Cup): Waipa v. Taupiri, Mr I. F. Vickers.
