FLOCK HOUSE TRAINEES
SOCIETY WILLING TO PAY ALL EXPENSES. The question of assisting the equipping of boys for Flock House when necessary was raised by Mr J. A. Nash at the annual meeting of the Manawatu Patriotic Society. The cost of equipping a boy was about £2O, which came very hard in many instances, he said. He would like to see the society assisting in necessitous cases. The chairman, Mr A. E. Mansford, pointed out that this was already the practice. The deputy chairman of Flock House said the great trouble was the lack ot boys. They had 40 and should have 60. They received .requests for boys from farmers all over New Zealand, but coul.d not secure them to attend Flock House. “It is a crying shame that there is a shortage of boys,” said Mr O. Monrad. “We have this wonderful institution, which is a great credit to New Zealand, but cannot get enough boys to go there.” It was pointed out that it did not cost anything to send a boy to Flock House, and the hope was expressed that more returned soldiers would send their sons. It was resolved to advise Flock House that the society was prepared to meet all expenses where necessary for the training of boys at the institution.
