HAMILTON STOCK SALE. GOOD PRICES FOR FAT LAMBS. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company reports:— Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tuesday a smaller entry of both fat wethers and ewes was penned; the quality was not so good as that of recent yardings, and competition was not over-keen, rates being on a par with recent quotations. A good entry of fat lambs met keen competition, with prices firmer than at recent sales. Cattle: Ox beef was again yarded in average numbers, the majority being light-weight, well-finished steers, with values remaining firm. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in full numbers, with a good proportion of finished cattle, the market showing no alteration. Second-quality and boner cows were penned in heavy numbers, the market being good with firm values ruling. Runners and vealers were yarded in heavy numbers, with butchers operating freely at'recent quotations. A few pens of store cattle found a good market, particularly for young, empty, good-coloured cattle. Dairies: A medium yarding of all classes came forward, including the advertised herd of cows and heifers. Values realised were about equal t 6 those ruling at other centres. Pigs: A small yarding of fat pigs and a medium entry of stores and weaners. The demand for baconers was again keen, and prices paid were in excess of export schedule rates. A full bench of buyers competed strongly for stores and weaners, and prices showed a sharp rise on last week’s sale. A pen of mixed-age unregistered Southdown ewes, running with stud Southdown rams, on account of Mr Keith Welch, Taupiri, realised 29s 6d. OTOROHANGA STOCK SALE

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report as follows on their Otorohanga stock sale held on Wednesday. Cattle.—Heavy fat cows were comparatively scarce, but light fat and store Jersey cows were entered in full supplies. For all classes a steady sale resulted and prices remained on a parwith Frankton quotations. All sold. A heavy entry of dairies included Messrs Dempster and Singleton’s clearing sale and a herd on account of Mrs Lowrie. Good quality cows and heifers due early, were eagerly sought, but as at other centres, the demand for plain and late calvers was only fair. Notwithstanding this, the entire yarding changed hands and on the basis of late recordings the sale was very satisfactory. We quote: Medium to heavy quality fat Jerseycows £3 2s to £3 12s 6d; light fat cows £2 15s to £3 2s 6d; heavy store conditioned Jersey cows £2 7s 6d to £2 15s; medium £2 2s to £2 6s 6d; heavy boners £1 16s to £1 19s; others to £1 15s; best young Jersey dairy cows due July £8 5s to £10; good July-August calvers £6 5s to £7 15s; medium young Jersey cows £5 5s to £6 ss; plainer and backward £4 5s to £5; good dairy heifers close to profit £4 15s to £6 10s. Sheep.—The entry consisted of good numbers of mostly forward quality store and light fat lambs, and several pens of breeding ewes. The lambs created keen rivalry among buyers, realising bettef'than reserve figures, while the ewes, too, sold freely. We quote: Light fat lambs 16s to 19s; forward quality store lambs 13s to 15s 9d; others Ils to 13s; six-tooth to f.f.m. breeding ewes £1 4s; f.m. breeding ewes 18s to 19s 4d. Pigs.—Stores and weaners only were entered in moderate supply. Prices were appreciably better than at the previous sale at this centre, but did not quite 1 reach the advanced levels of Frankton rates on Tuesday. All sold readily. We quote: Well-grown store pigs £1 Is to £1 4s; medium store pigs 18s to £1 Is; slips 15s to 17s fid; large weaners 13s to 14s 6d; small up to Ils. MATAMATA STOCK SALE

Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited, report having held their fortnightly sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when a medium yarding of all classes of stock was offered. Competition was keen for all offerings, and the advertised lines of weaners sold at prices as good as those being realised at other centres, all lots, barring one, being sold under the hammer. Quotations: —Sheep: Prime fat lambs (heavy), 225; medium 19s 2d to 21s 9d; light and unfinished 17s 6d to 18s 9d; store lambs (fair) 16s 4d; light fat ewes 15s 3d; store wethers (small) 225; cull 2-tooths 16s 4d to 17s 6d. Cattle: Fat Shorthorn cows £5 7s 6d; fair fat cows (Jersey sorts) £3 15s to £4 ss; fat Jersey heifers £3 to £3 16s; good boner cows £2 Ils to £2 18s; lighter £2 4s to £2 9s; poor cows 25s to 325; yearling Jersey heifers £2 13s to £3 2s 6d; weaner Polled Angus steers (fair quality) £4 ss; heifers £3 weaner Shorthorn steers (good quality) £4 ss; heifers £2 12s 6d to £3 Is; good quality springing Jersey heifers £6 10s to £6 15s; fair quality £4 5s to £5 15s; others £3 to £4 ss.
