WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
AT TE KAWA. The monthly meeting of the Te Kawa Women’s Institute was held in the hall on Wednesday, Mrs S. G. Broadbent presiding over a good attendance. One new member was welcomed and one, who is leaving the district, farewelled. There was little business to be dealt with. The roll call, "Mistakes I have made in housekeeping,” elicited a wide and varied range of culinary blunders. Mrs Raymond Jones, of Te Awamutu, demonstrated leather work and finished two useful and decorative articles during the afternoon. The knitting competition was won by Mesdames Lumsden and Chestnut, who tied for first place, with Mrs McCullough second and Mrs Lumsden third. The buttonhole bouquet competition was won by Mrs Stewart, with Mrs Broadbent second and Mrs Plewman third. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Mexted and Henderson.
