WREATH OF CARROTS

AT TITHE SALE. Farmers and smallholders paraded with effigies of Queen Anne and Ski" George Middleton, chairman of the Tithe Committee' of Queen Anne’s Bounty, after a tithe sale at Hall Farm, Wortham, Suffolk. The farm, which is owned and occupied by Mr. R. H. Rash, a member of the East Suffolk County Council, was the scene of the 18 days’ tithe “war” two years ago. A procession was made to the monument unveiled a year ago to commemorate the tithe “war,” and a wreath of carrots and other vegetables was placed on it. Effigies of Queen Anne and Sir George Middleton were pelted with clods. Mr.. Kedward spoke of the “storm of indignation” which woulfl rise if the Government attempted to push through the proposals of the Royal Commission and White Paper on tithes.
