At the Borough Council meeting on Monday evening, attention was directed. to. the purveying of fish by a hawker last sale day in Market Street, and the Mayor said no hawker can take up a stand anywhere in the public streets, with’out a license. He must keep moving from house to house if he is purveying fish, fruit or other perishibles. Even then, a license is necessary. During the discussion it was asserted that the hawker occupied a stand for at least three hours, and that he had no license at all. The Council’s inspector was instructed to prevent a repetition of the offence.
