The usual weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union was held on Monday evening, Mr H. Worthington presiding.

Mr G. Spinley wrote accepting office as vice-president of the Upion, and forwarding a donation to the Union’s funds, with all good wishes for a successful season. .

A challenge from Cambridge subunion for the Cucksey Cup (thirdgrade competition) was referred to the Junior Advisory Board for attention.

Maniapoto Union inviteci Waipa to send its junior representative team to play at Te Kuiti on July 4th.—Referred to Advisory Board. The Waikato Union notified that challenges for the Finlay Cup must be lodged by May 31st.—Received. The secretary, Waikato Union, wrote re the position of a Waipa player who had contracted to play League, and who admitted signing a document though he had not actually played. The Waikato Union had ruled that the player is debarred from playing Rugby until he has been reinstated. Rule O states: “ Professionalism is illegal by an individual signing any forth of the Northern Union or Rugby League.’’ The secretary reported that the New Zealand Union had adopted the remit emanating from Waipa requiring clearances for players transferring from one club to another. He added that the parent body also requested all sub-unions to play three men in the front row of scrums.— Received.

Accounts totalling £6 Is lOd were passed for payment. It was decided to play the ißbvers v. Te Awamutu senior game, originally arranged for May 16th (race day) on the King’s Birthday, Wednesday, June 23rd, a public holiday. Mr H. P. Ensor was appointed senior selector.

The secretary was instructed to write to the Central Committee, Hamilton, re punctuality, or lack of it, by teams competing in the interunion senior competition. It was mentioned that last Saturday the visiting team was late, and a fortnight ago another visiting team was also well behind the appointed time for commencing play. Discussion arose over the personnel of the two local senior clubs competing in the inter-union . competition, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Te- Awamutu Club asking if that club has a surplus of players, would it agree to transfer some of them to Rovers Club, as the latter is now very short of plavers_ through injuries. The Referees’ Associatiojn is to be asked to examine players’ footwear for faulty sprigs. The Hockey Association is to be asked to co-operate with the Union on Saturday afternoons by placing a gatekeeper at the small entrance gate on Park Road.

The acting-secretary of the Central Committee wrote that the trophy being competed for by the eight in-ter-union teams in the senior competition will be available for exhibition at an early date. He forwarded a list of the registered colours of the teams and directed attention to the second paragraph of Rule 15 governing the matter of correct uniforms in matches. Attention was also directed to the desirability of competing teams having their line umpires equipped with suitable flags.
