THE ARGENTINE.

The viist of the Prince of Wales to the Argentine Republic next year is arousing a great deal of interest, not only in this country, but in South America (says the British and Colonial Printer and Stationer). These peregrinations of His Royal Highness are not without their value to British industry and commerce, and closer and improved relations between this country and the Argentine are likely to result from the Prince’s tour. In the meantime, the business outlook in the Argentine shows considerable improvement from many points of view'. Apparently there is no unemployment in the country, whilst capital is said to be free from income tax. Moreover, the favourable course of exchange is expected to result in greater activity in the import trade during this year. Many of the goods which are consumed in the country are such as the United Kingdom can supply, but whether that demand will be transformed into larger orders for British goods or whether it will be neutralised by intensified competition from Germany is not yet clear.
