TE AROHA CLUB A meeting of the Te Aroha Chess Clubb committee was held on Wednesday evening, the president, Mr Macdonald, occupying the chair. It was agreed to start the handicap championship and other competitions on Friday, the Bth inst. Mr Kenrick (handicapper) has arranged the sealed handicaps for the competition. Mr A. Swney is presenting a trophy for the championship tourney, and Mr F. L. Kenrick offered,to give a trophy for the handicap competition. Mr A. J. Burrows is providing a trophy to be competed for by the players in classes 4, 5 and 6, and Mr Va. L. Burton is donating a trophy for competition to be arranged. * An invitation has been sent to the Thames Club for a match to be play's ed over the boards at Thames, date to be arranged. Arrangements are also being made for a telegraphic match with Gisborne.
