HAMILTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— We held our weekly stock sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, 24th February, where we had a fair yarding of beef (chiefly cow). Being a short market prices were firmer than the previous week. A good number of fat and store sheep were penned, mutton being steady at late rates, while store ewes were easier. A full yarding of fat and store pigs came forward, baconers being on a par with last week! while porkers were a little easier. We quote:— Prime steers £l2 7/-, fat cows and heifers £6 15/- to £7 5/-, medium £6 to £6 10/-, light £4 10/- to £5 10/-, fresh conditioned Poljed Angus-Here-ford cross cows £4 |/- to £4 15/-, store-cows £2 to £3, fresh conditioned 4 and 5-year-old bullocks £8 1/-, good quality steers £5 6/- to £5 13/-, smaller £4 15/- to £5, 3 and 4year steers £7 15/-, small £5 10/- to £6.
Sheep: Prime fat maiden ewes 36/6, prime ewes 32/6, fat ewes 28/to 29/6, light 25/- to 25/9, prime fat lambs (woolly) 33/- to 35/-, lighter 28/-, full mouth ewes (good frames) £1 to £1 2/-, culls 13/9 to 16/6. Pigs: Heavy baconers £3 7/- to £3 9/-, medium £3 to £3 5/-, light baconers and good porkers £2 10/- to £2 15/-, medium porkers £2 2/- to £2 8/-, light 35/- to £2, stores 27/- to 30/-, weaners 12/- to 19/-.
