HAMILTON RAM FAIR The Hamilton Ram Fair was held at Claudelands Showgrounds on Wednesday, February 4th, and was conducted by the three local auctioneering firms, Dalgety and Co., Ltd., the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co.,

Ltd., and the N.Z. Loan' and Mercaritile Agency Co., Ltd. * Over 1200 rams were penned, and there was a 'good attendance of buyers from all parts of the Province, Prices were about the same as lastyear, except those for Border Leicesters, which were lower. In most cases there was keen competition for good sheep but inferior sorts were ngf, in demand. There was a good demand for Southdowns, very few lots being passed in, and prices ranged from 3 to 14 guineas, while a 4-year Stud Southdown on apeount of Mr B. Syme, Otorohanga, topped the market at 31 guineas. There' was no great competition for Border Leicesters, breeders’ and buyers’ estimates of value varying considerably, and a number of lots were passed in. J?ric Is ranged from 3 to 5 guineas. There was the same indifference with respect to English Leicestei-s, which sold from 41 to 51 guineas. Lincolns were not sought after, a few lines realising 3 to 41 guineas. There was a good yarding of Stud Romneys and satisfactory prices were obtained. A good line on account of J. Law, Gordonton, sold from 81 to 22& guineas, while three rams on account of Mr J. R. Seddon l-ealised 22, 17 and 14 guineas respectively. Good Flock Romneys were much sought after, making from 81 to 121 guineas, others 5| to 7i guineas; a few aged and inferior selling- at 2 to 4 guineas.
