A football story told by Seed of the Tottenham Hotspurs. A supporter of a visiting team, just prior to play beginning, started an argument with a supporter of the “Spurs.” Each was sure his side was going to win. “Look here.” said one at last, “we’ll have a bet on the result,, and the loser to stand a fish supper.” “Done!” was the ready response. “But I say, what about the beer?” “Well,” said the other, the mere anticipation of the feast rendering him extra generous, “if I lose you shall have a glass of beer with each fish.” “Right-o!” was the reply. “Then we’ll have whitebait.”
