McMahon thought? that if this modified form of daylight saving was to be permitted with one branch of the Council’s staff the privilege should u, be extended to all their employees. It was • stated that some of the workmen now started at 7.30, and they would object to starting earlier than that. . * Cr. Gordon: If they had to start work at 7 o’clock what time would it be necessary to get up in the morning to prepare breakfast. '“Look at the matter,” she said, “from a hour ’ wife’s point of view.” The Mayor said it would be tiri*e enough to bring in the other workers when they expressed a desire to commence work at an earlier hour themselves. / Thq Council acceded to the wish of the clerical staff. - - • ' /■ . ~
