MIKKELSEN’S ROAD

DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL Messrs W. Dunn, A. W. Fielden and A. E. Lennard, Waihou, waited on the Piako County Council on Monday and urged more expedition in proceeding with the metalling of Mikkelsen’s road. Mr Dunn said, that the road work had been long delayed. It was three to four years since the matter was first taken up. Lie urged that a little more expedition should be shown in the matter. Settlers were disappointed at the delay. He thought that the Council should see that the £IOO subsidy due should be lifted and the work pushed on to completion. The chairman, Cr. F. W. Walters, replied that an application had been made for the money from the Advances Office, and so far no definite information had been received. Cr. Kennedy said that it was very desirable that the work be pushed ahead and asked if recourse would be made from the Bank as a temporary expedient when approval of the grant is made.

The chairman: Certainly; no time will be lost in pushing forward the work. The particular work came within the Council’s yearly allocation of £SOOO. The Council\ would do its best to push the matter on.
