Miss Jamison, who has been spending a fortnights holiday at the seaside, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, returned to Te Aroha yesterday.

Mr Lawrence Johnstone is spending a few days at the Thames, and expects to return to Te Aroha at the close of this week.

The Hon. William Earnshaw, Wellington (a member of the Legislative Council), accompanied by Mrs Earnshaw, are at present spending a short holiday in Te Aroha.

Mr A. A. Woodward, who has been appointed engineer to the Tauranga County Council, was in Te Aroha on Tuesday and left for Tauranga on Wednesday morning. Mr Woodward takes up his new duties there in a few days’ time.

Yet another of the fast-thinning ranks of Waikato pioneers passed away on Tuesday morning at Monavale, Cambridge, in the person of Mrs Elizabeth Atkinson, relict of the late Mr William Atkinson, at the ripe old age of 86 years. Mrs Atkinson was born in Yorkshire, England, and came to New Zealand, with her husband, in' 1870, arriving at Auckland. Immediately on reaching Auckland they set off for Pukerimu, with horse and dray, the journey taking three days. They took up a section of land at what is liow known as Monavale, and this they have occupied ever since—over 53 years.
