GIFT AFTERNOON

FOR HIGHTOWN QUEEN

A PLEASANT FUNCTION

On Thursday a gift afternoon in aid of the funds of her Majesty of Hightown' was held at Mrs Christensen’s residence. A large number of people were present and the numerous gifts were both pretty and useful. Afternoon tea was served in the drawing room and on the verandah, the tables being artistically decorated with beautiful flowers.

During the afternoon recitations were given by Misses Joan Jennings and Bremner (Auckland), w T ho both recited in a natural and pleasing manner. Recitations were also given by the little Misses Edna Christensen and Moya Williamson, and Miss Grade Kennington. Mr Christensen gave three selections on his musical saw, which were very much enjoyed by all. Mr Jennings also gave a recitation and rendered a number of briliantly executed selections on the piano.

A very pleasant afternoon was spent by all present, the beautiful outlook and the charming scenery adding to the pleasure of the occasion.
