Mr F. A. Jennings of Hamilton has acquired the music practice of Mr T. Venables of To Aroha and will take up his duties early in the Ney Year. Mr Jennings has had a wide experience and is well recommonded as an accomplished and highly trained artist. He was a pupil of Madame Levy of Hobart, who was herself trained by the famous Madame Marchesi, teacher of Dame Melba , and other great singers. He was music master and choir master and organist of the Armadale Church of England, New South Wales, and assistant organist of the Grammar College, Melbourne. He has had considerable experience as a musical organiser, concert organiser, and is a well-known baritone soloist.

Quite a sensation was caused among the juvenile fraternity, but not beford time, when it was rumoured that the police were taking the names of the more flagrant disturbers of the peace of a small but rowdy section of youths who had mixed with the crowd in Whitaker street on Tuesday evening. After allowing for the exhuberance of youthful spirits is was evident that things were going a little beyond a joke. The throwing of miniature bombs and fireworks became not only a nuisance to the ladies, but in a small degree a sense of danger. From a fireworks display point of view some of the bombs were “bonzer,” but not for' some of the ladies concerned.
