The African World learns authoritatively that the Earl of Athlone will succeed Prince Arthur of Connaught as the Governor-General of South Africa. Mr L. Macintosh Ellis, director of the New Zealand State Forest Service, returned by the Niagara on Friday, after attending the British Imperial Forestry Conference at Ottawa Canada. Mr Ellis proceeded to Rotorua to inspect' forestry operations there. The Rosedale Woollen Mills, Invercargill, were destroyed by fire on Saturday morning. The damage is estimated at £30,000. The stock, plant and buildings were insured for £36,000. A portion of the stock was saved, though the buildings and valuable plant were destroyed.
