WAIHOU

SERVICE OF SONG (From a Correspondent.) The monthly song service, which is undenominational in character, was held at Waihou on Sunday evening. The attendance was well sustained, there being 51 present, all with the common intention of having Christian fellowship together and worshipping God without distinction of sect or creed. ;

The singing of Alexander’s solos with their pleading refrains was enjoyed to the full and commonplace cares were put aside while the soul refreshed itself. The whole service was bright and cheerful throughout. Mrs Williams sang “Bearing His Cross,” and Mr Fursdon and Mr Wheatley each contributed solos, while Mrs Crabb presided at the organ and Mr Buchan with his cornet also helped to make the evening a musical treat. It is understood that at the next meeting some items will be given by local friends, including a cornet solo. An interesting address was given by Mr Fursdon, in which he referred to the importance of events in these last days of this age, and of the return of Jesus of Nazareth to this earth again. He pointed out that Daniel foretold the very year in which the Messiah should die, - which was literally fulfilled, and with many other telling and striking proofs he enjoined the hearers to join the Kingdom and wait with gladness the coming of the King. Mr Wheatley added some words of encouragement and cheer and after further singing the meeting closed with the benediction.

The next meeting will be held, on November 18 th. The free-will offering in aid of Di\ Barnado’s Homes amounted to £1 2s.
