Congratulations

Power Board’s Display at Recen Show At the conclusion of the ordinary meeting of the Thames Valley Power Board on Tuesday afternoon, the Matamata Town Board’s representative, Mr J. Price, Baid he desired to congratulate the Board’s staff and all concerned, upon the wonderfully CQmplete and interesting display of electrical goods and equipment at the recent Thames Valley A. and P. Show, at Te Aroha. He had been assured that it was the best display of its kind ever shown in the Djminion. (Hear, hear). Mr Miller said be had heard complaints by ratepayers of the unduly high cost of power as compared with benzine. He thought comparative fign>es should be publiahod broadcast.

The chairman stated the figures had been published in all the district newspapers, and in passing he eulogised the press for the great assistance always accorded the Boa r d.

Mr Millar said if the ratepayers were fully aware of the fac s there would be little or no opposition. Mr Arthur suggested sending a printed circular to each settler in a district a week or so before the canvasser calls.

The manager said the chief reason for settlers deferring instal’ation was the present financial stringency. Some had told the canvassers that they “ could not buy a twopenny stamp, let alone an electric motor. ’’

Mr Price : “ Doublers should inquire in our district. They would soon be convinced of the advantages of electricity. We have only had the power a few weeks, but we are strong advocates already." That is why we want the whole district supplied.
