Plans Wanted

Power Board Member Wants to Know Following a remark by a fellow member at Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Yalley Power Board, Mr J. Price said he had previously moved to have plans of proposed work placed on the table at each monthly meeting. This had not yet been done. He contended that the foreman could not do the work properly until planß and specifications were available. Ho knew of cases where numbers of poleß had been erected and then dismantled. He was confident the work was not done econom-'' ioally in'parts of the district, and did not want other districts to be similarly unfortunate. He advocated, now that the manager had been given increased authority, a committee should be Bet up to co-operate with him. .. .

Mr Ganvain said Mr Price’s criticisms. were easily answered. The man in charge, at Morrinßville had himself laid out the plans The poles wrongly erected in the Matamata district, as referred to' by Mr Price, were put at the request of the Town Board. The Boards had been delayed owiDg to their in. ability to arrive at an agreement with the Town Board respecting street lighting. Mr Piic9 stated that the Power Board had decided twelve months ago on the method of street lighting. Mr Ganvain said fittings for Matamata’s requirements werb pot obtainable in the Dominion. Another style of lights was available right now, but Matamata Town Board objected. There were certain obstacles at Matamata, through no fault of either Board, but these difficulties were being rurmonnttd. The plans asked for by Mr Price were available but had not been brought to Te Aroha. He would certainly produce them at next meeting. No other board in the North Island had such complete data placed before it. Mr Flatt said his idea in bringing the matter up was to become informed at each meeting as to the work to be done and money to be expended on that work during the coming month. Be was continually being asked by ratepayers just what work would bo put io hand. The engineer laid he would have the information available fiom rext meeting onwards. The reason be did not produce them earlier was that he desired to completion of the. Board's new offices.
