Waihou Polo Club

A meeting of members of the Waihou District Polo Club was held last Saturday evening, Mr Gh P. Qoodfellow (president) occupying the chair. There was a fair attendance of members

Mr W. R. Johnson, delegate to the South Auckland Association, reported that the Association had agreed to hold next years’s tourney at Te Aroha and had elected Mr James McNicol, of Wairaukau, as president, and the speaker as secretary. The tourney would take place daring March. Some consideration was given to the matter of holding a Polo Club social, and dually it was decided to concentrate on making provision for a ball or monster social at tournament time. This decision was influenced by the fact that so many socials /ire in preparation for the next few weeks, and it is getting rather late in the season.

' It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the Club on Thursday, October 7th.

A rough statement of finances showed that the Club' had a very satisfactory year, enabling it to wipe off a deficit of over £3o'and still leave a credit balarce of £l2 or £ls. In this connection, appreciation was expressed of the great help rendered the club by the Te Aroha Jockey Club in placing its grounds and appointments at the service of the club for the polo sports a few months ago.

Mention was made of the need for some more satisfactory arrangement in connection with the use of grounds for polo games, and .this will be brought up for consideration at the annual meeting. Several small accounts were passed for payment.
