WORK IN PIAKO COUNTY

ENGINEER’S REPORT Tlio engineer in liis report to tlio Piako County Council on Monday, said that owing to illness ho had boon uuable to visit tho whole of the ridings. Contracts arc arranged for Lovcgrove’s road culvert, the Waiwhcro creek at the estimate, whilst the following are to be done: Koiley's, Johnston’s creek and O’Donogliuo’s outlets.

Judging by the array of motor cars at a recent Waihou salo it is certain that tho Council will come in for the severest criticism owing to the stato of our roads, aud in order to minimise the force of the impending onslaught it would bo a good policy to bo up and doing. Even if it went as far as sotting about preparing a comprehensive county roading schcmo it would be so much towards alleviating the Council’s position.
