TATUANUI NOTES

(Own Correspondent)

The Tatuanui district is progressing rapidly, aud it will soon I e vicing with adjacent and longer settled districts for tho position of chief impor tauce. During a ramble a few days ago T noticed that fivo new residences are about to b i erected on No. 8 road while on the Kereoue Road three new houses are shortly to be com pleted. In almost every instance tbe timber is ready on the ground and the strnc'ures in course of erection

The Tatua Co-Op. Dairy Company is also intent on having improvements effected to the factory during the off season A weighing machine is to be installed, aud other appointments making for an up-to-date factory, The company will h ive several more new suppliers for the coming season, and tho output is sure to be very much increased. I understand proposals in connection with the manufacture of glaxo were recently submitted to tbe Tatua Dairy Co., but .were not accepted and the present intention is to continue tbe manufacture of cheese.

Another party-telephone line is shortly to be erected from Moriiusville into this district. This makes the third, and there are already inquiiies for a fourth. Te Aioln, why did you miss this glorious opportunity ? Several of our sottlers are installing milking plants aud adding to their herds for the coming season Mr Weightmau, on Mr Semmcus’ farm, is installing a three-eo\v plant ) and Mr F. Wilton reckons he will ueed a six-cow plant, for he purposes milking over 100 cows this season The laud lias already been sur. veyed for a public school which is shortly to be erected at Garroway's corner, towards Lower Waitoa. This locality bids fair to be the gem of the whole couutrysido aud is sure to be rapidly settled. 1 look forward lo the timo when wo well have to have additions effected to the school.

A minstrel troupe has been formed iu Tatuanui. and the members are busily practising, under Miss Cooper (musical directress), for their lirsi appearance, which is to be iu the Public Hall here on June 27tb, when a concert will be given iu aid of the Red Cross Fund. Tho troupe has adopted the title of “ The Snowdrops.” aud judging from my knowledge of some of the talent, the party should give a good account of themselves.
