BIG SALE RT WAIHOU YARDS Tho .Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., held a very successful sale at the Wafliou yards on Friday lasi, the accommodation being fully taxed to cope with the large yarding. Several herds of dairy stock, and Mr F. L Hart's live-stock, greatly added to the entry. Me.s rs G. McCullagh aud W. Vercoe were the auctioneers aud they were kept busily engaged for about four hours. Mr S. Currie’s fine herd of Shorthorn cows attracted a lot of attention, aud bids came freely, the 46 cows averaging over lOgns. The top price was 23}gus., another was quitted at 22|gns. Twenty of the cows sold at 17gns or over, 17 others at between 12gus. and 17gns., and the remaining nine at from 7fgns. to lligus. Mr A. Lip- . ae y bought freely, and others to secure ■ cows were Messrs Muuro, Walker, i Goodfellow and Chitty. The other iherds made up to 13-jgus, The •general entries were quitted at ruling rates, some of tho prices being : i Cows aud calves to £8 10s, empty •cows up to £8 10s, Shorthorn bull .£23, Jersey bulls to £8 10s, young rfat steers to £lO 7s 6d, 18 month istcers to £B, yearling steers to £5 18, aged boar 10s 6d, empty sows £1 2s, slips 14s to 235, farm horses £l3 10s to £23 10s, hack £l3 10s. Farm implements and sundries were quitted at usual rates.
