Convent High School

A PLEASANT AFTERNOON

The Convent High School was the scene of a most enjoyable function on Thursday afternoon last, when, to the kind invitation of the Sisters, many of thepupils parents and friends assembled at the Schoolroom to witness a very acceptable concert programme, which was presented by the pupils in a mostlcreditable manner. The schoolroom was tastefully decorated with flowers and greenery and the needlework, paintings, etc., which were neatly displayed in the room, sully testified to the capabilities of the teachers of these classes. The following proyramme was submitted to the full acceptance of the large audience : Piano duet, Misses F. Fitzgerald and, E. Magill, address on behalf pupils, by Miss D. Coleman ; chorus, “ Oft in the Stilly Night ” pupils ; orchestral piece, “Simple Aveu,” violins, Misses Crawshaw. Magill, Cobb, Wigg, and Cooper and Master C. Mace, pianos, Misses Grice and Fitzgerald. Action Song “ Our Hats ” (boys); piano solo “ Papillon action song, “ Wynken, Blynken and Nod ” girls ; recitation, “ The Old Flag,” Miss M. Mace ; action song, “ Old and New,” senior girls. Chorus, “ Till the Boys Come Home,” by pupils. Afternoon tea was then handed round and partaken by all present. Before presenting the certificates the Rey. Father McGuinness, spoke in high terms of the -work accomplished by the pupils and the sisters. He also expressed pleasure in seeing the large gathering present, The Mayor (Mr W. Norrell) and Mr H. Magill, also expressed a high opinion of the work done by the Sisters, and trusted that all present had thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Junior Division Misses Hilda Whitlock (honours), Ivy Wagstaff and Rita Fitzgerald. First Steps—Miss Maggie Geaney.
