Cutting Grass Seed on Railway Lines

The Government Railway Department has kindly acceded to the request made through the Dominion Secretary of the Farmers’ Union, to allow parties of school children under the personal supervision of the schoolmaster, \ or some other authorised person, collect grass seed from the lands through which the railway runj. It will be necessary, however, for the school committee or head-master to communicate with any local railway engineer, for the necessary permit. This permission will be granted free of charge if the proceeds are devoted to some patriotic fund. I This concession should enable a large quantity of seed to be harvested, and at the same time provide the boys with an easy means of materially adding to their patriotic gifts. We hope it will be largely availed of throughout the Dominion.
