The Northern Steamship. Company’s Taniwha, while coming from Auckland to Paeroa on Sunday, struck a tree stump in the Waihou river, just below Paeroa. The force of the impact caused a hole, through which the water quickly gained an inroad, and the vessel sank. .It is expected that the cargo will be damaged to a considerable extent.
