Wardens Court.

A sitting of the above Court look place on Tuesday last, before Warden Burgess, when the following business was transacted

John Tallentire, application for the Westralia and Westralia Extended Special Claims.—Granted for 42 years, twenty-one days being allowed in which to commence operations.

F. W. Lipsey, application for “ Success Extended Special Claim.” Mr Porritt appeared for applicant. R. T. Jansen gave evidence as to marking out the claim, which is adjoining his own, the “Success.” — Granted.

Applications for “ Pick ” and “ Dominion” Special Claims were adjourned till next Court Day, 25th of May ; no plans being available. W. T., Rowe, application for sec tion in Block 36, Te Aroha. — Granted.

Campbell Jackson, application for abandoned Section No. 68, LipsevTe Aroha.

Mr Gilchrist, who appeared for the applicant pointed out that the section was taken up some sixteen or seventeen years ago, one year’s rent ! only being paid. The usual for malities as to posting notices, etc, had been gone through, and to all appearances the section is abandoned —Adjourned till next Court Day in order to give applicant time to send a registered letter to the late owner. Jas. Hill, application for business site. —No appearance of applicant. Adjourned till next Court day. In the case of Thomas Gavin's application for the “ Premier Extended” and “Te Aroha ” special claims, adjourned from last Court day, the Chief Surveyor reported that the mine is on a State forest. This meant that timber could be cut for mining purposes only, Mr Gilchrist, who appeared for Mr Newsham who had applied for the “ Dominion ” special claim, pointed out that since Mr Gavin's application was first lodged the lines had been somewhat altered, thus encroaching on the “ Dominion ” ground about 12 or 14 chains on one line and on the other not so much.—lt was pointed out that after Newsham had pegged off the claims for Gavin, he had been employed by another Company to peg off the “ Dominion ” ground. A somewhat heated passage-at-arms took place, Mr Gaviu remarking that it was the most contemptible thing he had ever heard of during his connection with mining. The further hearing was adjourned till next Court day, in order to give Newsham time to have ground surveyed
