Found “Not Guilty”

AN INVERCARGILL CASE. Invercargill, March 3. In the Supreme Court, Maude Buchanan, charged with attempting to murder Mr D. W. McKay with assault and intent and unlawfully wounding Miss Vera McKay, it was alleged by prosecution that the accused fired six chambers out of a ( revolver at the McKay’s, when leaving home in a motor car ; that strained relations existed on account of anonyomous letters. The defence was to the effect that accused was in a distressed state of miad on account of the letters and only fired to create a scene in order to put a stop to the annoyance. The jury found her “ Not Guilty.”
