Euchre Party.

There was a good attendance at the progressive euchre party given in the Public Hall last night in aid of the funds of the Te Aroha School. Sixteen tables were in use and play at times was very exciting. Twenty-four games were played, and the winners were: Ladies, Miss Thomson 17 ; gent’s, Mr Simpson 18 ; while booby scored four The following were also close up: Mrs Heathcote 16, Mrs Waghorn 16, Misses Fawcett and Keaney 15, Mr Bowles 17, while Mr Lipsey, jun., t scored four. Messrs Scott and Burton were M.O ’s and Miss Burton had charge of the bell.

Play was continued until 11 o’clock, after which the prizes were presented by Mrs Kenny. Supper was handed round by the ladies’ committee, supervised by Mesdames Burton and Beswick.

In returning thanks, Mr Burton, the energetic secretary, stated that the prizes for that evening were donated by Messrs Johnson and Wigg (silvermounted vase), and Mclndoe (gent’s hogskin purse) ; also that Mrs Kenny had donated all the prizes for the last tournament held in the school. He also announced that a ladies’ fretwork glove or handkerchief box had been donated for the ladies’ prize at the next tournament, to be held next month.
