New Zealand Lo»n and Mercantile Company report:—Horses * At the Durhaw Yards on Friday horses were brought forward in larger numbers than for some weeks and stdd under keen competition. Heavy draughts sold at from £3O to £44; medium do., £l7 to £3l 10s ; worn do., £l3 to £22; hacks and harness horses, £9 5s to £2O ; ponies. £4 10s to £9 10s On Friday we held a clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mr John Hood, Otau, Waiuku. The was a good attendances and satisfactory prices ruled. Dairy cows sold at from £4 to £7 17s 6d , dairy heifers, £3 15s to £5 7s 6d ; bull, £4 10s; milk cans, 6s to 255. At Waiuku on Saturday there was a good muster of stock for a winter sale, more especially of dairy stock, Dairy cows sold at from £3 10s to £8 ; empty do., £llss to £2 18s; two to old steers, £2 10s to £4 17s 6d ; calves 13s to £ l 6s, Beef sold at Newmarket rates

Cattle: There was an average muster of stock of all descriptions at the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday. Dairy cows N sold at from £4 5s to £8 : empty £1 15s to £2 17s 6d ; calves, 15s to £1 Fat cattle were yarded in average nuikbers, competition being firmer than on the previous week. Oxen sold to 23s per 1001 b; cows, 17s to 20s per 1001 b. Steers sold at from £6 15s to £lO 17s fid ; cows, £4 5s to £B. Most of the fat cattle were lightweights and the quality, was not as good as usual, Sheep : At the Haymarket Yards on Tuesday, sheep were yarded in average numbers and improved in prices, best quality advancing from 2s to 3s per head. Wethers sold at from £1 Is 9d to £110s; ewes, 17s 9d to £1 3s 9d ; hoggets, 10« 6d to £1 38, Pigs : Porkers sold at from 17« fid to 19s 93; bacon ers. £1 7s to £2 10s: weanbrs, 7s to 11s 9d. Bones. £4 15s. Oats are firm at 3s 5d ex store. Maize : As there were no arrivals this week market prices have advanced to 3s 5d and 3s 6d ex store. ’ Chaff: Good quality is in good demand at £5 10s ex store. Fowl wheat is selling slowly at 4s fid ex store. Potatoes are selling freely at £5 10s and £5 15s. Butter: Good separator is selling freely at 9d to 9.|. Poor qualities are very slow of sale.
