Te Aroha School Committee have sanctioned the school breaking up on Thursday next instead of Friday. , At the Lark worthy estate, the manager is at present engaged in sowing a large quantity of turnips. On Wednesday last a second trip was made to Paeroa by Firth's barge with portions of the battery machinery for Vfaitekanri. The rainfall this week will do much good, and was greatly needed. The weather, -however, continues unusually cold for the time of year, and the v«rj severe winds of Wednesday lant did considerable damage to fruit trees where not well sheltered. At a special meeting of the Te Aroha School Committee, held on Wednesdu\ evening last to consider the applications received re appointment of teachers ; after full discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously and forwarded to the Board :—": — " Whereas the application of Miss Hould for romoval to another school — if granted — furnishes an opportunity for the Board to appoint a male teacher, as recently recommended by this Committoe, we now recommend the appointment of Miss Mnnd Emerson, of Te Aroha, for the position of fourth teacher."
