FRAUDS ON THE COMMERCIAL BANK OF AUSTRALIA.
At Melbonviio on Wednesday lasil l\. 11. Fariar and H. N. S. llowitb wore charged ab the City Court with conspiring to defraud the Conimuieial Bank of Australia of sunw aniountiny to £7,400. They were lemanrled till the 13th. Bail «as allowed, It appears that Hewitt renewed his echool-boy acquaintance with ITamir only a J'ow months a{j;o. He had boon living- beyond his means, and believing- that F.urar wtu. wealthy, Hewitt, gob a&si&tancc from him. Shortly af lei ward a Kairar asked Hewitt to hold over certain cheques of his which had beon paid into the Commercial Bank. Hewitt consented, and so the conspiracy bejjan.
