MR GLADSTONE AND TURKEY. London, September 21.
Mr Gladstone is credited with having made a remarkable utterance in the course of an interview to-day. After declaring that the friendship between England and Turkey had not lessened, he stated that the day before the bombaidment of Alexandria by the Biitish fleet he urged upon Musurus Pat>ha, the Turkish Ambassadoi, that the time was opportune for the occupation of Egypt by Turkey. The Sultan, however, refused to adopt the suggestion.
