CENTRAL AFRICA. MAJOR BARTTELOT'S SUCCESSOR DEAD. London, September 21.
Information has been received tiom Central Africa that Mr Jamieson, who succeeded Major Barttelot in command of the relief party, died from fever at Banzalas on August 7 th. Major Barttelot, in a letter wiitten befoie his death, expressed distrust of the chief Tippoo Tib, and news now received from the Congo confirms his treacheiy. The general opinion in Central Africa is that it will be impossible to send ,any fresh aid to Stanley by way of the Congo.
