At an influential meeting of settlement interested in the establishment of a University for thid colony Sir Charles Lilley, Chief Justice, provided, and it was resolvod, on the ino i 'ao:i of Sir Charles Lillay, seconded by the tlon. John Douglas — "That petition forma bo drafted asking Parliament \>a establish an University ; and that these forms be sent to all ministers of rel?gi.n, ineoibers of the medical, legal, and ech.listlc professions, municipal council?, divisional boards, and other public bodioa throughout tho colony, witha request to ute every endeavour to obtain signatures."
