DOMAIN BOARD.

The usaal monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Hot Springs Domain Board was held in the Board room on Saturday evening last, 4th inst. Present : Messrs G. Wilson (chairman), C. Ahier (sec), G. Lipsey, T. Gavin, and E. Quinn. Minutes of the previous monthly meeting, and also of a special meeting held on Nov. 20th, were read and confirmed. Sale of Bath Tickets. — The first matter discussed was Mr Quinns motion That the bath tickets be sold exclusively outside the Domain. Mr Quinn now proposed, That nil the bath tickets in future, until further notice, be sold outside the Domain, which was seconded by Mr Ahior. Mr Quinn said : If his proposition were carried, it would relieve the caretaker and his assistant of a good deal of work. Ho had been making enquiries, and Mr Balcke had offered him to sell the tickets on commission. The Chairman : I have given notice of motion to tho effect that the prices of bath tickets be revised, in order that some of tho baths may be made more exclusive. It would, I think, be well for both matters to be discussed togetner. Mr Ahier ; Are we going to discuss this matter in committee or not? Mr Lipsey : I see no reason why this matter should have to be disctfssed in committee 1 .

Mr Quinn : I suggest that the selling of tickets at a ml need price by the doz'in be done away with nl together ; and that the price bo made uniform for 1 or 100, us follows : Nos. 1, 4, 5, and C, 4d each ticket ; No. 2, Cd ; No. 3, is. Mr Lipsey : I trunk it would l-e a great mistake to pile it on too much, and I think Is is too high a charge to , make. We should try and manage the Doiiain to suit the public so far as possible, not to make a lot out of it. The Chairman : I would suggest making the charge for No. 3 lOd, No. 2 Bd, and the others as at present. Mr Gavin : The people who use the private batl)3 are as a rule those who have been Making all the noise and fuss and want so much attention shown them> they are the best able to pay ; and I do not think Is any too much to charge. The Chairman : I am of opinion ifc would be a very arbitrary law to pass, that no one could under any circumstances purchase a ticket at the Domain Board office. Take the case of a stranger coming late in the evening, or when very wet, or on horse back, without a ticket, would you wish that such be forced to go away up the town to purchase a ticket and back, before they would be allowed to have a bath ? Mr Quinn : My intention is thafc under no circumstances shall any tickets be sold within the Domain. Mr Gavin : IE we appoint a salesman outside and he pays us cash for tickets, he should be at liberty to supply hotel keepers or any person he likes with them. The Chairman : I am strongly ot opinion that tickets should be sold in the Domain. By selling them outside there will be very little labour saved } and I do not think to confine the sale oE tickets entirely outside the Domain will be found to be such a very popular measure as you suppose. Mr Qninn said he could not sco how there could possibly be any traffic on tickets if his plan were adopted. After considerable discussion, Mr Gavin proposed " That the minute whereby the sale of tickets at a reduced price per dozen was authorised, be rescinded. Seconded by Mr Quinn, and earned. Proposed by Mr Quinn, " That the existing bye-law relating to the price of tickets be altered, and the priae be as follows : Nos. 1, 4, 5, and G baths, 4d, white tickets ; No. 2 bath, Gd, blue tickets , No. 3 bath, Is, red tickets ; children under 13 years of ago, half price/ Seconded by Mr Gavin, and canied. This new rule to take immediate effect, and the caretaker to be instructed to sell tickets singly until new tickets had been procured^; the old tickets to be destroyed as fast as they came in. Mr Quinns proposition in the early part of the meeting, that tickets be sold in future entirely outside the Domain, was also put and carried. Mr Ahier then drew up and submitted to the meeting the following conditions for sale of tickets : 1. Terms to be cash on deliveiy. 2. Not less than £20 worth of tickets to be supplied at any one time. 3. Those tendering to undertake to keep their place of business open for sale of tickets from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. 4. The contract to be terminable by either side on giving one week's notice to that effect. 5. Tenders to be returned by Saturday evening next, 11th inst. G. The Secretary to undertake to invite tenders by means of written notices to be stuck up in the three principal hotels atTe Aioha, and Murray's, Waiorongomai. On the motion of Mr Quinn, secondel by Mr Gavin, the foregoing regulations were adopted. On the motion of Mr Quinn, seconded by Mr Gavin, it was left in the hands of Mr Ahier to obtain 10,000 new tickets and 100 posters in connection with the foregoing alterations.
