THE MINES.
New Find. — The low level is now in a distance of 300 feet ; the ground still continues bard for driving, making progress slow. Sloping is progressing much as when last reported, and fair crushing dirt is coining to hand from the stopes south and north above low level, and also from the foot wall portion on No
reef, north above low level. Sloping has beea started on No. 2 run between the No. 1 and 2 levels, and a little nice gold has been here seen. Success. — The laying of the branch tramway to connect this mine with the county tramway y/vs let to Messrs Southey and Segersen, and i^ being pushed forwarded rapidly, and should be completed next week, At the nun* all preparations have been completed for loading of qunrtz direct from the mine on to the trucks. Jamieson and party, tributers in the Waiorongomni mine, and Maicey and party, owners of the Gordon (late Phoenix) claim, are putting through trial parcels.
