Unkra. — The law level. tunnel has now been driven along the course of the reef for a distance of 150 ft. From the comineneetnent the lode h.as maintained an
average thickness of 3ft,. and the battery Value of the second-class stone has proved to be one and a half ounces per ton. A start was made yesterday to cart quartz to the Martha Battery, where crushing- operations with 10 head of stampers will be made about Monday next. Rosemont. — This company's main adit level is now in a distance of 4(Joft. This work was undertaken by Sorenson and party at 59 per foot, but during the last week the country has become too hard to admit of wages being made at that figure, and consequently the con-, tractors have stopped work pending farther arrangements. Silverton. — There are now about 50 tons of quartz in the paddock from the stopes north and south of the winze, and i a large per centage of the stone shows gold freely. Next week crushing will be started with 10 head of stampers at the Martha Battery, and the manager anticipates a handsome return. Martha Extended. — Fifteen head of stampers are running continuously upon quartz from all parts of the mine, and the crushing is shaping for an average return. 4
