Meeting of the Government Life Insurance Association.

Wellington, June 13. At the annual meeting of the Government Insuraiico Association to-night, the Chairman (Sir J. v ogel) reported that 2,571 votes had been received in favour of Mr G, Y. Shannon, and 1,42S in favour of Mr Graham. The Chairman moved the adoption of the repoit, which was carried. Major Atkinson desired to move an amendment, affirming the principle that no buildings should be erected in "Wellington or elsewhere. The Chairman ruled that he could not put the amendment, and Major Atkinson would have to call a special meeting to discuss the question. The Chairman announced that Mr J. Duthie would be recommended to the seat as nominated member rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr Shannon, and that a bill would be introduced into the House legalising the division of quinquennial profits. As coon as the actuaries' leport was received from Homo, so as to obviate any delay, a special meeting would be held. Mr Bell proposed a resolution to the effect that the control of the institution be handed back to the Government. In consfquence of the lateness of the hour, the meeting was adjourned until Monday next.
