T HA M E S-COROM AN DEL CHARITABLE AND BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above was held on Monday evening last at Thames. Present : Messrs Renshaw (chairman), Greenville, Walsh, and Colebrook. Piako Representative. — A letter was received from the Piako County Council to the effect that the Thames Hospital having been formed into a separate institution, Mr Smith had been instructed' not to attend any more meetings of the Board. The Secretary was authorised to reply expressing legiet at the course pursued". 13oimdaiies. — Mr Colebrook moved : •'That the Chairman bo instructed to wiite to Government objecting to any change in the boundaries of the Coro-mandel-Thames United Chaiitublo Aid Boaid District,' ami that Messrs Cudman and Fraser, M.H.R.s', be informed accordingly, with a request for their bupport." lie said it ccitainly appeared as though the Piako County were desirous of being: cut off from the Board, which was most undesirable, and contrary to what was intended by the Act, which, in his opinion, was for the purpose of compelling the country districts to contribute towards tho support bf the poor and indigent, who naturally gravitate towards towns. Instead of lessening the extent of country under the jurisdiction of the Board, the boundary should be extended and take in a portion of the East Coast. The effect of cutting off the Piako from the distr'ct would practically mean the collapse of the Board. Mr Walsh seconded tho resolution, which was carried. Mr Greenville concurred with all that had been said by Mr Colebrook, and said he had been informed that steps were being taken by the Piako County to be separated from the Board, a petition for this object having been forwarded to Parliament. He therefore thought the resolution which had just been passed should go even further, and moved—" That the Secretary bo instructed to write to the four local bodies requesting their assistance in the matter."
