Ho has been informed that a conference will assemble at Sydnoy on the 26th April for the considera tion of a general scheme of colonial defence. MrHayter, Government Statist, in his agricultural statistics of the colony of Vic toria for the past season, gives the wheat yield as averaging S'99 bushels per acre. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, in their grain circular just issued, adopt this basis, and estimate, alter allowing for the wants of the colony, that twenty-nine thousand tons will be available for export. The demand for New South Wales and Queensland, however, completely absorbs the surplus, hence they anticipate a gradual rise in prices.
