Sydney, Dec. 17.— 0n the Legislative Assembly meeting for business yesterday afternoon, the Premier (Mr Dibbs) an nouDced that the Government, finding they did not possess a working majority in 4 the House, had decided to resign. Mr l>ibbs also stated that the Ministry, in placing their resignation in the hands of the Governor, had advised His Excellency to send for Sir John Robertson. The Assembly then adjourned.

Sydney, December 18. The sculling match between Neil Matterson and W. Beach, the champion, for £200 a-side and the championship of the world, took place to-day on the Parramatta River. The weather was beautiful, and there was a moderate attendance. Beach won easily. He led from the start, and was never caught. It was evident from the outset that Matterson was overmatched.
