THE LITTLE THINGS
It was tthly a cup of water given, Ot 1 a simple song well surtg, But it ended the pain of: an aching brain, And it cooled a burning tongue.
It was only the sweep of a soothing hand, Or a look from a ldving eye, But they eased the smart of a lovirs heart, And they misted the thoughts on highi It was only a snow drop pure and sweet, Or a scented twie: of thyme } Yet the»e told of spring, and the birds that aihg, And the doming summer time. From the earth they sprlrig, of heaveri\ they #peuk, In their 'mute, yet eloquent Vdicej Like the culm serene of the tnorfling'a Blieet)) And they make the soul rejoice.
